WASHINGTON, DC - Americans for Roberts hailed today's confirmation of Chief Justice John Roberts as a victory for both the U.S. Constitution and judicial restraint.

"The Pledge of Allegiance. Property Rights. Gay Marriage. Americans are fed up with the corrosive results of judicial activism on our Constitution and jurisprudence. John Roberts' confirmation proves that a judge who leaves the legislating to the legislative branch of government can be confirmed by the U.S. Senate," said Kay Daly, President of the Coalition for a Fair Judiciary. "And it's thrilling to have a new Chief Justice who will restore judicial restraint to our courts and put the Constitution first."

"Unfortunately, today's vote also shows that there are too many Democrats beholden to extreme special interest groups on the Left, ready to put partisanship and their campaign war chests first," Daly said. "Given the results of the last several elections, the message from the American people could not be more clear - 'ENOUGH'."

Americans for Roberts is a coalition of more than 300 organizations supporting John Roberts' confirmation to be the next Chief Justice of the United States.
